Parental Involvement is Key…

Coláiste Dhúlaigh Post Primary School Parents’ Group.

The Parents’ Group is a structure through which parents/guardians in Coláiste Dhúlaigh Post Primary School can work together for the best possible education for their children.

The Parents’ Group works with the Principal, staff and HSCL to build effective relationships between the school and home.

The Parents’ Group are involved in parent courses, trips and also help with school activities.

Research shows that the children achieve higher levels when their parents and teachers work together. Here at Coláiste Dhúlaigh Post Primary School, we value the contribution that parents make in the school and would encourage all parents to become involved, however small, in the Parents’ Group.

Through the Parents’ Group, parents/ guardians can make suggestions and be a support for each other and the school.

In Coláiste Dhúlaigh there has always been a strong tradition of parental involvement in the school. The Parents’ Council has been in existance since the school was first established.

The Council generally meets on a monthly basis. As well as being involved in policy development, parents participate in other events sich as: Graduations, Open Day & Evenings and other events in the school calendar. A number of programmes are avialable to parents:

  • Cooking for Christmas – cakes and puddings
  • Flower arranging
  • Parenting and Self Development Classes
  • First Aid
  • QQI Level 5 IT Courses

The school welcomes parental involvement in their children’s education.
